Kids are grown up more.   Finally got another BMW.  This time a Boxer.   2017 r1200r.   Bought it used with 16k miles.  Has some misfire issues I'm trying to sort out so feel free to chime in with ideas.

Since the BMW dealer closed on Silver Spring, where are people getting their parts these days?

Now that I have time to ride I hope to see you all again out there.

Welcome back to the family! 16k on a 2017. That previous owner must have enjoyed looking at it more than riding 😂

I would recommend Moto Union on Greenfield as they are THE BMW dealer for this area. I am not sure how tech savvy you are and what you are comfortable with, but the first valve clearance chech should have been done at 12k miles and that service includes new plugs, oil, diff fluid, brake fluid flush and bleed, and air filter. I would make sure those items are all up to snuff.

My 2020 r1250gs was pinging really bad, I checked the valves again, retarded my ignition timing slightly, and went to one step colder plugs. The guys (Mike) from Moto Union had the shop zero out all parameters of my engine and so far so good. I know my engine is a little different than yours (shift vs wet head) but they are more similar than not.

thanks,  I'll have to reach out to MotoUnion soon.   Savvy i can be,  did oil, oil filter, plugs, diff fluid, air filter.    I'll keep at it.   Affording this bike means doing as much as I can myself.
